Adhesives for the medical and hygiene sector
Textile adhesive bonds are needed for almost all hygiene and medical textiles. They must provide reliable bonds for the intended purpose of the product, and also ensure efficient manufacturing processes. Our reactive PUR hotmelts designed for textile production are OekoTex-certified and have the ECO PASSPORT, confirming that they meet the strict standards of the textile and clothing industry.

Medical textiles for multiple use
Medical textiles intended for multiple use are usually made of a multilayer textile composite whose individual layers are glued together. These garments are frequently washed at high temperatures or sterilized, so only suitable fabrics can be used.
Surgical gowns and drapes, for instance, are cleaned with special disinfecting detergents and then sterilized with hot steam.
Any adhesives used in the fabrics have to meet very high standards and tolerate both the chemical stress of the detergent and high temperatures.
We recommend our reactive PUR hotmelts for this purpose. They offer high resistance to various elements and contribute to streamlined production processes, as they can be tailored to individual user requirements.

DISPOSABLE MEDICAL TEXTILES
Disposable medical textiles, such as disposable stretcher sheets, are not generally exposed to chemicals or high temperatures. Hotmelt adhesives can be used for this type of textiles.

MATTRESS PROTECTION COVERS
Mattress covers are used for hygienic purposes and to protect the mattress from premature wear, mostly in the hospitality industry and in hospitals and care homes, etc. They generally consist of a multilayer textile laminate and a membrane that are bonded together with a reactive PUR hotmelt. The adhesive must not affect the comfort of the mattress and has to retain its properties even after a high number of wash cycles at high temperatures.
There is also a high demand for mattress covers for allergy sufferers. Such covers are made of a fine fabric that prevents dust mites, whose excrements can cause allergies, from getting in. Mattress covers that provide special protection against spills and stains (such as urine, etc.)
also require special materials and special production processes. The adhesive(s) used must be fit for the purpose.
