Which seal classes are distinguished?
Breathe easily with EMICODE®
In order to be awarded the EMICODE® label, manufacturers need to submit their products for extensive testing at renowned institutes. Based on scientific test results, products are classified into different emission classes. Only products complying with the most stringent emission limits are awarded the EMICODE® label. The label offers consumers, craftsmen and architects guidance to decide which materials offer maximum assurance of indoor air quality and guarantees optimum health protection and a high level of environmental compatibility.

KLEIBERIT BIO adhesives enable the sustainable and responsible design of bonding processes and the resulting end-products.
Many of KLEIBERIT's adhesive sectors already have products containing bio-based material, and our R&D department is constantly expanding the product portfolio. In addition to performance that is at least comparable in performance to standard adhesives, reliable availability and smooth processing on industrial lines are of primary focus.
To summarize: the newly developed and modern KLEIBERIT BIO adhesives offer the familiar performance and efficiency and at the same time make an active contribution to environmental protection, moving away from petroleum-based raw materials and towards raw materials from renewable resources.
What does micro-emission mean in the context of PUR hotmelt adhesives?
PUR hotmelt adhesives contain iscocyanates, which are required for the crosslinking reaction. The chemical crosslinking leads to outstanding properties of PUR hotmelts, such as outstanding heat and moisture resistance.
The iscocyanate is present both in polymer-bound form and, in small quantities, in monomeric form. When the adhesives melt during processing, vapors can be generated that contain monomeric diisocyanate. This can lead to respiratory sensitization.
According to the REACH restriction regulation (Regulation 2020/1149), chemical products containing ≥ 0.1% monomeric diisocyanate may only be used after August 24, 2023, if processors have been trained in safe handling.
KLEIBERIT offers a wide range of ME PUR hotmelt adhesives for various applications.
KLEIBERIT ME PUR hotmelt adhesives contain less than 0.1% of monomeric diisocyanate. Therefore, the PUR hotmelt adhesive does not need to be labeled as a hazardous substance.
By using KLEIBERIT ME PUR hotmelt adhesives, you and your employees are exempt from the training obligation while also ensuring improved occupational health and safety as a company.
