PVAC DISPERSION ADHESIVES
Water-based polyurethane adhesives are mainly used for laminating 3D molds with thermoplastic decorative films, textiles, and other surfaces. The lamination takes place in a so-called hot sealing process.
First, the PUR dispersion is sprayed onto one side of one of the materials to be bonded, usually the most absorbent one, such as wood or wood-based materials like particle boards. This is where the hygroscopic properties of wood-based materials come in useful: they help the adhesive components to penetrate deeply into the material, thus generating the best bonding results.
The PUR dispersion is then usually left to dry off completely. Afterwards, the material to be bonded and the PUR-pre-coated surface are joined using a heated vacuum and/or membrane press. Heat and pressure reactivate the pre-dried adhesive, causing the decor material to adapt and bond to the 3D surface of the workpiece.
The resulting bonds are extremely resilient to heat and moisture. This heat sealing process has been a standard in furniture panel and automobile mold manufacturing for many years. KLEIBERIT 1C or 2C PUR dispersions can be used, depending on the individual needs and specifications.
