Adhesives for outdoor and sports clothing
Breathable sports and outdoor clothing consists of a two- or three-layer textile laminate whose layers are bonded together. Such textiles have to be reliably weatherproof and provide excellent thermal insulation. A membrane prevents water getting in, while allowing moisture to escape. For comfortable wear, the adhesive used for seams, etc., also has to have a soft textile feel. PUR hotmelts have unparalleled bonding properties and can be adapted to specific production processes, making them a popular choice in industrial textile production. The textiles are usually laminated in a roll-to-roll process, with the hotmelt being applied with screen or engraving rollers.
Hotmelts that can be processed at low temperatures are in high demand in the textile industry: they can be used with temperature-sensitive materials and the production process is less energy-intensive. Low-emission adhesives are also gaining popularity.
