Preparation for the WorldSkills 2022
Training at the highest level for WorldSkills 2022 at the HOLZ tradeshow Oct. 12-15, 2022 in Basel, Switzerland. Benjamin Supé naturally relies on adhesives from KLEIBERIT.
World Championship in Basel
From October 11 to 14, the World Carpentry and Joinery Championships will be held in Basel, Switzerland. Benjamin (Ben) Supé, the German champion in carpentry and joinery from 2020, will be there.
Several weeks of special training in the category of "cabinetmaker" are behind him. During this time, he built a good 15 dressers – each one better than the last. Hard training that pays off, because "every minute I'm faster and more accurate can make the difference in the end." Ben gets feedback above all from Florian Langenmair, who is the national coach for the cabinetmakers and has gradually brought his protégé into top form in Dinkelscherben (Bavaria), Germany. Until the climax, which now follows in Switzerland, the young journeyman carpenter has already dedicated two years of his life to his dream of winning the world championship, and even if "it is the most exhausting thing I have ever done, I don't want to miss a single day of this unique opportunity."
"Skill" means ability or talent. At WorldSkills, international young talents from various trades in industry and the skilled trades compete against each other. In addition to carpenters and joiners, bricklayers, hairdressers and mechatronics engineers, etc., also compete for medals. In total, more than 1,000 participants will compete in around 50 trades. In the carpentry and joinery trades, the competitions will be held in two categories, with the 2022 national carpentry and joinery team competing only in furniture, but not in construction carpentry. German construction and furniture carpenters have been among the world's best for decades and have already won four bronze, eight silver and five gold medals.
